IN THE VINEYARD

This year the vines re-awoke from their long winter slumber in mid-April and began to bud, aided also by the mild temperatures and by the presence of a good level of water in the soil, sufficient to not create any stress when the vegetation reappeared.

The temperatures – rather high at the end of May and more moderate in the first half of June – allowed the vines to produce quite a lot of leaves and an excellent quantity of small bunches of grapes.

Green pruning has been carried out in the vineyard, so that the grapes have good exposure to air and sunlight and so that the leaf canopy is in balance with the fruit. We are also mowing the grass in the vineyards and breaking up the soil near the vine rows in order to eliminate weeds.
